Otehimina Heartberry ᐅᑌᐦᐃᒥᓇ
Otehimina Heartberry ᐅᑌᐦᐃᒥᓇ
In neehiyaweewin (cree) otehimina means “heart berry” it’s used to describe a strawberry; here it is in syllabics ᐅᑌᐦᐃᒥᓇ . It’s considered a medicine because the chemical compounds are good for our bodies. I’ve turned this word into a modernized medicinal pictograph by honing in on it’s uses and what it’s good for.
Ghost pipe-I’ve yet to come across a cree name for this plant yet, I do know one exists because Ghost pipe has been documented as a medicine since time in memorial. Ghost pipe is used for immense feelings of sadness, anxiety and pain. This medicine has also been used in times of conflict between ones self or other people.
tipiskaawi-piisim means “the moon”, the moon helps keep track of the passage of time there are 13 lunar moon cycles, the moon helps in hunting seasons, planting seasons and in ceremonies.
